Hiring: Junior PHP / MySQL Web Developer

17th September 2010

ChoiceCuts is a growing music, digital and design agency that has been expanding into the web development industry since 2005.

We promote live music events and DJs around Ireland (recent performances include Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Q-Tip, Sharon Jones, De La Soul, Madlib etc) and offer web design and development services to a multitude of industries in Ireland.

We have been in business for 7 years and a large majority of our sites service the music/festival industry (Electric Picnic, Festival of World Cultures etc) and we also provide CMS and web app solutions to B2B and B2C customers (Yahoo UK & Ireland, C&C, Hankook etc)

Opportunity

We have recently taken on some exciting new projects and are now looking for an experienced PHP/MySQL web developer who is focused, passionate, communicative and eager to develop their skills in the areas of content management, e-commerce and custom-made web-based applications.

We work with some of the best graphic designers and brands in the country and the successful candidate will be working in a challenging and creative environment, maintaining, developing and extending our current and upcoming portfolio of websites.

This position requires you to work from our Dublin city centre offices, on an initial 3 month contract. If you are the right person you will be able to pick up some of the work load immediately though we don’t expect you to be able to do everything, so you will receive support throughout.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required

You MUST be experienced in the following fields:

  • Wordpress (this is essential) – Template tags, the_post/the_loop, custom templates, Pages vs. Posts, folder/theme structure, plugin installation and Wordpress security
  • XHTML/CSS for semantically accurate, tableless layouts
  • Javascript frameworks(jQuery, Scriptaculous etc)
  • Using Firebug during development and familiarity with various browsers quirks and CSS hacks
  • PHP (V.5 preferable)
  • MySQL – you must be familiar with database design, management and integration with PHP
  • An understanding of MVC architecture is a bonus, but not required.
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and thoughts with our staff and customers.

We are a small company and every employee lives and breathes what we do. Much like everyone else, the successful candidate will be required to answer phones, do their fair share of tea and coffee making, respond to client queries and attend client meetings.
