In November 2009 ChoiceCuts were involved in a very special event which took place in Los Angeles, California. We helped Mochilla coordinate and facilitate a one off event involving Hypnotic Brass Ensemble to perform at the highly revered Vtech Music music series of live shows. Performing on the night with Hypnotic were Producer/MC extraordinaire Madlib aka Quasitmoto and the multi talented musician/arranger Miguel Atwood Ferguson and his Quintet. ChoiceCuts’ very own Mark Murphy aka DJ Scope also performed at the event, DJing before the show and warming up the discerning LA crowd.
This event was atteneded by some notable musicians from the music and entertainment industry. MF Doom, Phil Ranelin, Flea from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and others were in attendence. This event was very memorable and we were delighted to be a part of this collaboration which further highlighted the commitment to high quality music from Vtech and the excellent production values that Mochilla executed.
Earlier in the day before the show Hypnotic Brass Ensemble rehearsed the classic Rene Costy & His Orchestra’s famous piece ‘Scrabble’ which was sampled by the fondly missed music producer James Yancey aka JDilla. This was performed as the finale of the show and was the perfect ending to a sold-out show.
