Hypnotic Brass Ensemble
We started working with Hypnotic Brass Ensemble 3 years ago. Since then we have been championing them worldwide to fellow music fans, promoters, bloggers, djs, agents and musicians.
8 Brothers who all play brass, the story behind this band is second to none. Their father is Phil Cohran, a trumpeter with Sun Ra’s Arkestra. He used to wake the brothers up in the morning time to practice on mouthpieces before school ( please see interview at the bottom of this page for a background).
Collaborations with Damon Albarn, Mos Def, Erykah Badu and live shows that are now the stuff of legend have propelled this family band into being the next big thing. Soul Jazz with a Hip Hop swagger. There is no denying the beauty of their music and the showmanship in their playing. The Observer called them the top 10 bands to see in the world in 2009.
Regarded as the best performers at the Electric Picnic in 2009 and the surprise highlight of Glastonbury, Lovebox and pretty much every venue they played in 2009. Hypnotic’s fans include Barack Obama, Damon Albarn, Jools Holland, Erykah Badu and Jay Z. Hypnotic are a musical force that continually win people over whether at a venue or with their impromptu street performances, blocking up thoroughfares in cities across the globe within seconds of the first note being played from their instruments.
2010 is already lining up to be a huge year for Hypnotic Brass Ensemble with tours of Japan, USA, Europe, Australia confirmed. Releases will include a live record, guest stars on the Gorillaz new record with Mos Def and Tony Allen
