Regarded by many as the best small festival in Europe for location, talent and atmosphere we were delighted to be given the opportunity to rebuild a website for the highly lauded Electric Picnic festival. Our goal was to engage the Picnic fans and users with the information available from previous years but without taking anything away from the unique style and aesthetic the Electric Picnic is globally recognised for.

We began our work by analysing the previous EP website in detail. Researching the flow of traffic and the user’s time spent on each page/section from previous years helped us to gauge what people wanted from a festival website. This helped to refine our approach before we began to overhaul the site in time for the festival launch and announcements.
Fundamental procedures like integrating Facebook Connect, streamlining the navigation while adding more content and developing a completely new Content Management System reinvigorated the site and brought it inline with a more savvy web audience. POD staff were also immediately empowered to update, add acts, link to new music, embed videos and in essence transfer the vibe of the festival to the website.

Comprehensive festival maps, festival goer information, travel and accomodation have all been improved compared to the previous site. In its first 4 weeks of relaunching, Electric Picnic’s Facebook group membership grew from 7k to 30k by focussing on the social aspects and strengths of this event. We also plan to facilitate some new online marketing initiatives for the site by allowing fans and users to interact with their favourite festival. We’re very excited about the plans for this year’s festival and the great line-up that is being added to regularly.
These screeshots were taken at the time of site launch, the site may have changed since then.
